Colin Wehrle Journalism
WSS Print Photo Editor
About Me
My name is Colin Wehrle, and I'm a sophomore at Iowa City West High School. I'm the Print Photo Editor for West Side Story, the student-run news source of Iowa City West High School. My position includes designing two photo features — single page spreads hilighting different photos — for each issue of the WSS, overseeing photo selections and captions in spreads, checking out equipment to staffers, camera training new staffers and assisting our online photo editor with photo selections for web and social media.
Outside the newsroom, I enjoy running, playing the saxophone and drinking too much coffee at the Java House. In addition to photographing for the WSS, I enjoy doing freelance portrait photography. If you're interested in my work, check out my Instagram @colinwehrle.photography
My passion for photography began at a young age with my mom constantly carrying a camera; this influence, paired with my interest in local and national news, led me to find a voice through photojournalism. It's my mission to inform, educate and engage my community by seeking and reporting the unbiased truth through photography, writing and reporting. I hope to contribute to a well-informed society where truth, justice and ethical journalism prevail.
