About

My name is Colin Wehrle, and I'm a junior at Iowa City West High School. I'm the Print Photo and Sports Editor for West Side Story, the student-run news source of Iowa City West High School.

 

My responsibilities include selecting stories for the sports section, overseeing writing and design for sports stories, overseeing photo selections and captions in spreads, checking out and managing equipment for staff, providing camera training to new staff members, and assisting our online photo editor with web and social media content.

In my free time, I enjoy walking my dogs, spinning my vinyl collection, and binge-watching Grey's Anatomy.

My passion for photography began at a young age, as my mom constantly carried a camera. This influence, paired with my interest in local and national news, led me to find my voice through photojournalism. It's my mission to inform, educate, and engage my community by seeking and reporting the unbiased truth through photography, design, and reporting. I hope to pursue my vocation after high school to contribute to a well-informed society where truth, justice, and ethical journalism prevail.
